I don't know.. I would have said go for it.. but I found a really old friend of mine one time.. who was male..and messaged him.. and about a year later I ran into his sister and apparently it caused a huge problem with him and his wife.. she thought that I was looking to be with him for some reason, and that was something that didn't even cross my mind.. I just wanted to say hi to an old friend- so I don't know.. if she is in a relationship it might cause a problem

If she knew you liked her, she might not have forgotten it, depending on how long its been, but still, it's good to hear from people from high school no matter if you liked them or not.
